COMPETITION

Districts:

The first competition of the DECA season is Districts. It will be held on January 5th at Midstate Technical College. At this competition, students from Wausau West are competing against others in District 2, which consists of schools in our area. Competitors must complete a cluster test based on their category and one or two role plays in front of a judge. They are scored based on the information presented and how professionally they conducted themselves. The top scorers then have the opportunity to move on to State in February.

SCDC (State Career Development Conference):

The next level of competition for DECA competitors is State. Competitors from around the state, who qualified, all come together at the Grand Geneva. Once again, participants complete a cluster test and perform role plays in front of a judge. On the last day of the conference, a large award ceremony is held to announce International Qualifiers.  Make sure to stay tuned for how our competitors do in March!

ICDC (International Career Development Conference):

This is the ultimate level of competition for DECA. This year's competition will be held in Anaheim at the end of April 2024! Here, there will be competitors from around the world including China, Canada, and Mexico. Together there are over 20,000 DECA members and advisors gathered. This is a great experience to meet new people, especially during the pin trading. Although it is a stressful competition, there are plenty of fun activities held to reduce the stress. There are also several conferences held regarding different aspects of leadership. Competitors spend hours preparing for this moment, so make sure to wish them good luck as the time approaches!
